1. Unpack the resources. 2. Name the folder as you like (Half-Life 2 006) and move it to \Steam\steamapps\common. 3. Launch Steam (login is required) at first and only then launch the game with hl2 .exe or the shortcut. No login/digital copy (HL2 for HL2-2707 / EP1 for HL2-2803) - you'll get only some maps of Chapter 1/6.
2 GB of RAM AMD Athlon 64 X2 Dual Core Processor 5000+ 2.6 GHz 32-bit Operating system (Vista) 128 MB ATI Radeon X1300 My system exceeds the minimum requirements to play, but the only instance where I can reduce the lag is if I reduce the resolution to 800 x 600. I was wondering if the lag has anything to do with the fact that I am using Vista.
For my part, I played HL1 in 1999 at 800x600 (a revelation after 320x240) and HL2 in 2004 at 1920x1080. EDIT: I remembered wrong, HL2 would have been 1600x1200 in 2004. Wow, okay so my estimate of the 90s AND 2004 was way lower (in terms of resolution) than was actually popular. Alright, cool!
In order for you to play Half-Life 2: Episode One on Windows with minimal graphics settings, your computer must meet the following requirements Minimum: 1.7 GHz Processor, 512MB RAM, DirectX® 8.1 level Graphics Card (Requires support for SSE), Windows® 7 (32/64-bit)/Vista/XP, Mouse, Keyboard, Internet Connection
